IECA Environmental Award Winners

Mission

The mission of the IECA Awards program is to recognize outstanding achievements in the erosion and sediment control and stormwater industry.

The IECA  Awards program recognizes outstanding achievements in the erosion and sediment control and stormwater industries. This year's awards recognized Environmental Excellence, Sustained Contributor, Outstanding Professional, Emerging Leaders, Sustained Partner, Technical Paper of the Year and Presenter of the Year.



Environmental Excellence

The Environmental Excellence Award is IECA's premier award. It recognizes an outstanding stormwater and erosion and/or sediment control project, program, or operation that demonstrates excellence in natural resource conservation and environmental protection. Recipients have shown a high level of environmental benefit by clearly identifying the objectives, methods used, results obtained, and details of the benefits to the environment.

This year's winner is  Bruce Highway, Cairns Southern Access Corridor (Stage 3) - Edmonton to Gordonvale Project (HSA Group)

Sustained Contributor

The Sustained Contributor Award recognizes an IECA member who has provided distinguished service to IECA and has made outstanding contributions to improve the erosion and sediment control industry for a sustained period of time. Winners of this award have demonstrated leadership by example through a significant and long-term contribution to the erosion and sediment control industry and to IECA through one or more of the following: education, government involvement, research, the establishment of standards or policies or the development of technology

This year's winner is James W. Spotts, M.S., Ph.D., CPSS, CPESC

Outstanding Professional

The IECA Outstanding Professional award recognizes an IECA member who demonstrates excellence in their work in the industry and is viewed by his/her IECA peers as an industry leader through significant engagement with IECA.

This year's winner is Julie Morelli, PG, REM, CPESC, CESSWI, ENV SP.

Emerging Leaders

This category recognizes Emerging Leaders under 40 in stormwater and erosion and/or sediment control projects, programs or IECA support that demonstrates excellence in natural resource conservation and environmental protection. Nominees earns points by being a student moderator; speaker; poster session participant; ELA conference attendee; published stormwater and erosion and/or sediment control article; is active in his/her local chapter; has been recognized for their contributions to the erosion and sediment control and stormwater industry by other awards.

This year's winner is Nathan T. Collier, CPESC, CESSWI, QISP; Lauren M. Deem, MS, CPESC, CESSWI; and Rachel Reynolds, CPESC, CESSWI​.

Sustained Partner

This award recognizes distinguished support to IECA and outstanding contributions to improve the erosion and sediment control industry for a sustained number of years. Winners of this award have demonstrated long-term support to the stormwater and/or erosion and/or sediment control industry through IECA in one or more of the following: education, innovative industry products, research, the establishment of standards or policies or the development of technology.

This year's winner is Charles R. Riling Jr., TRETCO, ABI, CESSWI.

Technical Paper of the Year

This award recognizes the technical paper from the IECA Annual Conference that receives the highest peer review score from the IECA Conference Review Team. The paper is evaluated on research, support of the hypothesis, accurate and appropriate methods being used and identified, the collection of data and conclusion of research. This award recognizes distinguished support to IECA and outstanding contributions to improve the erosion and sediment control industry for a sustained number of years. Winners of this award have demonstrated long-term support to the stormwater and/or erosion and/or sediment control industry through IECA through one or more of the following: education, innovative industry products, research, the establishment of standards or policies or the development of technology.

This year's winner is Jannell Clampitt, EIT, CPESC-IT

Presenter of the Year

This award recognizes the presenter from the IECA Annual Conference which receives the highest score from classroom evaluations. A minimum of 20 evaluations must be submitted to be considered for this award. The presenter is evaluated on knowledge, technical accuracy, preparedness and communication in the subject matter. Additionally, the presentation is evaluated on meeting the learning outcomes, educating the audience on the chosen subject matter and motivating attendees to try new processes and procedures in their work environment.

This year's winner is Craig Benson, MS, CWS.

IECA Partners for Excellence Award Winners

IECA Partners for Excellence Program recognizes IECA chapters that have taken the initiative to better serve not only the members of their chapters but also the public in general. Innovation, chapter involvement, measurable results and application are key criteria. This year's winners are:
