Presentation Description : Join us to explore the types of aquifer systems, including a look at three representative aquifers: the Edwards Aquifer Recharge in Central Texas, the Spokane Valley-Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer in Washington state, and the Bowling Green Kentucky karst system where the cave systems actually convey stormwater as part of the city infrastructure! We will talk about aquifer sensitive areas, common hot spots for stormwater impacts, and types of management practices being used. Bring your knowledge of or curiosity about geology, water quality, and stormwater management practices to learn more about the connection between stormwater and groundwater!
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this presentation, attendees will:
Describe karst geology and aquifer settings
Identify hot spots for pollution in stormwater
Identify management practices to protect sensitive aquifer supplies
